I think I have posted on here before about how one of our friends used to call something that you did for the first time a virgin experience. I had another one yesterday. It was the lovely experience of running out of gas.
I am quite conscientious about getting gas. Yes, I do let the tank run down so that the gas light comes on, but I always try to fill it as soon as that happens. However, this is a new vehicle for us, and I had no idea approximately how long I could go before I HAD to fill up.
I was on my way to Crowfoot where I was planning on filling up at the Safeway as I get 7 cents a litre off and I was going to grocery shop. Instead, right at the lights going out of our neighbourhood I stalled and the car died. I was at the front of the lineup. I called a couple of friends who live near us to see if anyone could bring me a jerry can of gas, but no one was home, so I had to hoof it home - positive thing, I got a walk in - a walk that is normally 30 minutes took me 20. I then took our jerry can to the gas station with our other vehicle and drove back to where my van was parking the Suzuki nearby. All this time my van is holding up traffic. It was backed up quite far when I returned. Needless to say, I was a little embarrassed and had to get gas here in our community, and as I took so long I had to go home, feed the girls, then return later for the groceries, again here not at Safeway. I also had to have a shower as I got gas on my hand and foot. Seems like a bit of a waste of an afternoon... I could've had a nap instead!

I wondered if that might have been your van but since I'd never seen it and there was no one there when I drove by my next thought was what a crappy place to stall. At least you weren't too far from home and got some exercise too!
