Hiking Prairie View Trail in Kananaskis

On the Monday of the long weekend, September 3rd, R, DH and I went to hike in Kananaskis again. We had decided weeks ago to hike the Prairie View/Jewel Falls Trail loop, yet things came up week after week the prevented us from doing it. Finally, we got to it.
It was a pretty long trail - not extremely difficult, though really long and seemed like it would never end. I believe it was about 15 kms because we did do the loop - if we would have done just Prairie View, got to the top, then turned around and went back it would've been just over 10 km. But, we figured we would get some different and beautiful scenery in - which we did, so it wasn't that bad! :) R "hiking" at the spot we stopped for lunch.

Looking down on Barrier Lake and the mountains from the first viewpoint.

From the top - the view to the northwest.
Why this trail is called Prairie View - we could almost see Calgary when looking to the east!
DH and R on the outcropping of rocks.
Along the trail.
Looking down at the lake again.
R needing another little hike.
Exhausted, but we made it!

Awesome Rayna! I sure hope you brought a lot of water, I'd definitely need it for a big hike like that! I think my fav pic is of Rhys hiking, what a great thing to teach your child!
