My sister and I had the privilege of going to the von Trapp Children last night. My dad bought us tickets because we love the Sound of Music so much. We used to watch it every Christmas Eve. These kids are the great grandchildren of the real Captain and Maria von Trapp and the grandchildren of the boy that in the movie was named Kurt - "I'm Kurt, and I'm incorrigible!" There are 4 "children" ranging from 12-18, three sisters and a brother. The boy is the youngest.
They were very good, harmonies were awesome and there were times that I just sat back with my eyes closed and listened. I kept thinking that they will have to rework all their arrangements once the boy hits puberty and his voice changes! Apparently they have travelled the world in the past 6 years, singing everywhere. They actually live in Montana though and the majority of the "older generation" live in Vermont. It was cool to get little stories of the family and correct misconceptions the movie created for me.
It was so nice to get out and spend the evening with my sister. We went for supper first and talked during the 1/2 hour intermission. (It was a long intermission!) And to enjoy something together that we both love, music.
So thanks Dad for sending us, I had a wonderful time!

That sounds like a fantastic evening! I just love that movie and am addicted to the Lonely Goatherd song. What a nice gift from your Dad!
They sang that one! And "Do, a deer...", "Edelweiss", "The Hills are Alive", and some other ones, as well as "So Long, Farewell" at the end.
Ones from the movie, I meant. THey sang a bunch of songs, of course! :)
How fun! I have loved that movie for years! I didn't realize there were grandchildren carrying on the tradition now...it would have been so interesting to hear the whole story...
Hey Rayna, I had a fantastic time too. Thanks for spending the evening with me. We need to make an effort to do that more often. Thanks for the opportunity Dad!
