M and I have a running joke. After 15 years of being together he still amazes me, almost daily, with all the clever solutions he comes up with of solving problems. In fact, he surprises me with his ingenuity more now than he did in our first years of marriage. I got to really know M watching MacGyver one night in the student lounge at BBC... should've known that day that he was something special. After that he asked to me the annual Christmas banquet and the rest, they say, is history.
It is funny, a little while ago I remember driving in the van with M and telling him how much I admired him. He has always been an information gatherer and has always done his best to do the best he could to get problems solved and fix things. When we first got married, this usually was by getting someone else to do it, most times while he was watching or helping. Now, he most often will do it himself, because he learns and retains the things he has seen/already has fixed. It is very impressive, because he will put together different things he has learned to make things work. And if he doesn't know, he will search the Internet, read forums, and go to "experts" to figure it out. He does everything he knows how to take good care of our home, our cars and his family. I respect him so much for the wonderful, hard-working man that he is and I thank God for that every day.
Oh, so the joke that we have is this - every time I say "Wow, you amaze me" or "How did you think of that" he just points to his chest and draws a line from right to left and we chorus "Not just a pretty face."
