Misquoted

Not to brag too much, well, maybe just a little, but my husband is an amazing communicator. God has gifted him in such a way that he is able to collect all these ideas and facts together and not only remember them, but assimilate them to make sense as a whole and then share them with others in a way that makes sense. Which is why he used to be such a great speaker and why when he was given the opportunity to speak at our church on the 30th of December he jumped at it. He was not only able to give our lead pastor who is doing most of the speaking on his own these days a week off from communicating, but he was able to use the gifts and the passion God has given him in this way. If anyone is interested in listening to his message, you can go here and listen. The guy at the beginning is our lead pastor Jeff Jarvis, DH starts speaking about 3 minutes in.
DH has always been bothered by a quote that he had heard when he was younger - "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." How sad this quote is - no wonder it has always made my husband feel small and insignificant in the role that he could play and play so well. The other day on a news program commercial I heard another quote - what must have been the original quote by Aristotle. This one is empowering for those who teach and makes total sense.
"Those who know, do.
Those who understand, teach."
Encourage someone that you know who is a teacher today, whether they teach in a daycare, preschool, elementary school, high school, college, university, trade school, Sunday school, children's church, or a pastor on the stage. (I am sure there are more places people teach, but I am running out of time! :) Let them know how much you appreciate them and the time and effort they put into their teaching and helping you or your child to know and understand too.
