Today was quite the day for R and I. Nothing was happening, we had no where to go, or anything specifically that had to be done, so it was a day around the house. We played with blocks and read books and cuddled. He colored and practised saying all sorts of words. When I put him down for a nap we cuddled in his rocking chair for a little while and you know how little people are so soft and you just can't help kissing them... I love that snuggly softness so much!
And then there were the lows.
I had to give R a time out as well as a little tap on the bottom (which I rarely ever do, but really wanted to get it through his head) that he does not throw toys, especially not at people, or use them to poke people in the face. It has been a bit of a struggle to have him listen well in the past, but today was especially hard as it seems like it was outright defiance on his part, like he was trying to hurt me. After the time out he was finally OK and calmed down and we played and it was a good rest of the afternoon.
It's a good thing that there are ups to counterbalance the downs. Otherwise I'd be tempted to send him back, though where the returns counter is, you've got me. :)
