A Rose by any other Name....

After reading Jobina's post last night about googling her name and finding 2 very cool items that were both named "Jobina" I wondered to myself why I had never done this. So, I googled my name and came up with a lot (!) of links. There are many people with my name out there... the ones in the first 10 hits mostly being musicians, or artists. Apparently, people who share my name are artistic, yeah!
I also found out, coincidentally, that there was an android on Star Trek: TOS (The Original Series for those of you non-Star Trek fans) with my name. Here she is:
I find this very funny because I am a Star Trek fan, though haven't really watched TOS much (I find Kirk a wee bit annoying) and now I find out there was a character with my name. I am curious to watch the episode now, but she probably fell in love with Kirk and that would just ruin everything!
I also found out that there is a ginger plant out there with my name, accidentally named that BTW. Here is a picture of it:
Pretty, if I do say so myself.
There are also shoes, one a bridal pair from David's Bridal and one by Anne Klein, which are so ugly and chunky that I do not want to be associated with them. :( Oh, and a shirt by Royal Robbins, with or without sleeves. And it seems to be a common name for people's dogs!
Not bad for a name that until I was 18 years old I had never met another person with my name and she spelt hers with an "i" as in Raina.
I kind of like that I have (what I thought was) a unique name. That's what my parents were going for when they named me. Dad worked with someone with my name and they asked her if they could use the name because they liked it. With names like Larry and Judy and sharing them with other people in their classrooms growing up they wanted to give their daughters something a little different.
That's why we went with R's spelling, it is a little different, but the way it is said is common enough.
It's all in a name, that's what they say right...

Update:
I read a synopsis for the episode of Star Trek: TOS that had the character with my name was in. I was right, apparently she was emotionless until she met Kirk, they fell in love, she didn't understand such intense emotions, short-circuited and died. Same old story...
