R is such a little man - he is learning new things everyday and after 14 months I am still in awe of him and all he does. Today he learnt how to spin the top that DH and I gave him all by himself. Since Christmas he has always brought it to DH or I to make it spin, but now he can do it on his own.

He also knows what we are talking about when we talk to him. He also got this "Screaming monkey" for Christmas - it really screams as it flies throught the air, a little annoying at first, but you get used to it :).
So for the first day, he cringed everytime it was thrown, but he would go get it and bring it back to you so you could throw it again. The other day, DH said to him to go get the screaming monkey and the next thing we knew, he was back at DH's side with it. I don't think we give kids enough credit. I really believe that R understands so much more than we think he does.
He also has been hugging everyone he knows lately. Yesterday night, one of the guys from our small group came over to help DH with the wiring downstairs (he is an electrician) and R was downstairs with them and he went to G and pushed him back and said "No, no, no, no" and climbed into his lap and gave him a great big hug. Today I went to the chiropractic office where I worked before having him and he had to hug T during my adjustment, T (the receptionist) while I was waiting and my former boss, Dr. C, when we were heading out the door. I am happy to say that he doesn't go around hugging strangers though. At least we have a healthy fear of them (for now! :).

He is growing up so fast! I want him to stay a baby forever, be my little huggy cuddler for always. I love everything about this time and I am sure that I will love the next stage and the one after that.
People always talked about how kids changed them and you cannot describe the joy they bring, or the feeling it is to be a parent until it happens. They were right when they said that. Having a kid changes your life, that is all there is to it. The thing is that you do not care a bit and you definitely never, ever, ever want to go back!
